We have been teaching a sweet 18 yr old named Melanie. She is really great. She also has a little 8 month old baby boy. We asked his name this week and she replied, “well, he doesn’t technically have a name.” What??? She told us that she was in labor and was waiting for a taxi to take her to the hospital when *plop* little baby no-name was born in the street. Terrifying right? well, the thing is that if the baby is not born in a hospital, it costs money to register him in the government and to officially give him a name. SO that’s why they call him Molito and not a normal name. Interesting.
We had a meeting with our Ward Mission Leader this week and started to talk about the problems and difficulties of our investigators. The elders are teaching a mom and her kids who is going through a lot of issues with her family. We are also teaching a young lady who is married to a sort of bad guy. After trying to figure out how to best help them, Elder Astin in his rage shouts, “Okay, this place is ripe with sin!!!” haha. I mean, there is no arguing there. However, it got me thinking about the fact that the whole world is ripening in its sin. The good thing is that the faithful are also ripening in their testimonies of truth. I cannot express how grateful I am to know that this life is not the end, that money isn’t everything, and that there is one who always understands and loves us. There is nothing more powerful than testifying of the power of Jesus Christ and his Atonement to someone struggling in the world.
To share the gospel is to share the gift of life eternal.
