Hello all. I have had a great week. Quito is filled with many adventures and people and miracles.
First off, we had a super duper Family Home Evening with the Cachiguango Family this week. The lesson was on Helaman 5:12 and we made houses out of straws. The point was that the people who made the base of their house really strong, were the ones who had the tallest and most sturdy buildings. We all enjoyed ourselves and promised to live our lives more centered on and founded upon Christ. I know that with him, we will be able to overcome any challenge that life throws at us.
One cool miracle happened this week: Well, it all starts with our 4th of July BBQ last Monday because Hermana Sheldon and I had to bring the volleyball net from our chapel to the activity. So, once we got home with the net we decided to take it back to our chapel the next day. After about 5 days of forgetting to bring it we ran into the secretary elders on their p-day who were about to go play volleyball at the church. Awkward! We still had the net in our house. So, we raced home to go get it and put it there before the elders arrived. As we were walking into the house my companion recognized a woman walking on the street and gave her a hug. It was a sister from her old ward down south! They had a nice reunion and then the sister told us that she was about to go visit her neighbors (a past investigator family of Hermana Sheldon) who were in the hospital with their sick baby about a block from our house. This little baby has leukemia and her parents are really struggling with it. We were able to go visit with the mom for a bit and decided to come teach her more regularly. I know that she needs this Gospel and I know that everyone needs this Gospel. Heavenly Father works in mysterious ways, people! The next time you’re asked to bring a volleyball net to an activity remember that it’s because Heavenly Father has something great in store for you. The little things always add up to big things.
