Hello folks! This week was Powerful. We started strong at a leadership meeting in Quito where we got to here from Elder Montoya (our area president). He is so so wise and a literal spiritual genius. He spoke to us about the importance of teaching with love. What do new missionaries need to overcome their fears? They need companions who love them and teach by example.
The next day he came to Ambato to talk with all of us here. He mostly counseled us on the importance of being exactly obedient because we want to and not just because we are forced to. He spoke of the Savior and testified that what he went through is real. That everyday we need to be acting as His representatives. He is much more involved in this work than we will ever think. Nothing that we do is for nothing. I got so pumped!! I love the mission and I love the people we are teaching. I want to always act as he would act and let everything else be as it should.
My companion and I also had a great experience in church Sunday. The relief society president came running up to us right before sacrament meeting and said that the RS teacher could not come to church and we needed to teach the lesson. Okay! The topic? “Successful marriages.” hahahaha I mean, my companion and I don’t have very much experience with that, but we went for it! I tried to share stories from people I know and prophets and I think it was one of the most entertaining Relief Society lessons this ward has ever had. I learned that we all have had experiences with a companion, friend, sibling, or maybe even a spouse in which we need to make compromises, be humble, and show love. I know that we are imperfect, but that through Jesus Christ we can all live happily and successfully. May we all be more patient and loving this week!
